Six Stop Smoking Secrets

December 15, 2019

Six Stop Smoking Secrets | Style & Life by Susana

Congratulations: you’ve decided to take the mammoth step of giving up smoking. Habits are always hard to break, and smoking is one of the hardest to let go of. However, now that you’ve made this decision, you’re going to find that you have a journey ahead.

Giving up smoking is difficult to do cold turkey, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be done. Let’s check out six stop smoking secrets that will make life much easier for you:

Know Your, ‘Why”

Why have you decided now is the time to give up? Whatever the reason behind it is, you need to know it and write it down so that you can come back to it every time you have a wobble.

If you have a clear goal, you’re going to stay focused on your journey toward letting go of your bad habit.

Make yourself a ledger so that you can record every time you would have bought a pack of cigarettes and didn’t. For every pack you don’t buy, put the money that you would have spent in a jar for later. Make a vision board filled with all the things that you’d be able to afford if you stopped smoking, and you can have a goal you can visualize properly.

Find the Right Replacement

Often, people who smoke struggle to give up because it’s the routine that they are set with. You might have tried to quit before and failed, but there are options to help.

Replace the cigarettes with https://vapeoz.com.au/ vapes, or try chewing gum. You need to busy your hands and your mouth so that you’re not tempted to jump backwards and start all over again. You may fail again, but the key isn’t in failure, it’s in getting back up and trying again. If a method of replacement doesn’t work for you, try another until you find the method that does.

Be Ready to Quit

You could impulsively decide to quit smoking, but you might find that it takes time to give up. If you can’t face giving up right away, why not look to cut down as much as possible first? One cigarette per day at a time can help you to quit without going into too much shock at the same time.

You have to be ready for this: it’s a big change if you’ve been smoking for a while. Give yourself a target date that you’d like to be smoke free by, and see how well you do with it. If you miss that date, check out how much you’ve achieved at that point. Then move to the next goal!

Get Set Up!

The day that you decide you want to quit smoking requires a shopping trip. If you plan to get Nicotine patches, you can get stocked up. You can do the same with gum and if you choose to vape, you can start looking at flavors or shops that will give you the best tips for quitting smoking or vaping instead.

One thing you’ll notice right off is that your appetite is going to go through the roof – get equipped with healthy snacks to keep you going!

Fight The Cravings

It’s not easy to feel those cravings when you are going to give up smoking. The one thing that you need to do is distract yourself. A cigarette craving lasts roughly 20 minutes at a time, and you can get through those 20 minutes! Some people like to put an elastic on their wrist and snap it when they feel that tug. The short, sharp pain can help them to think of something else.

Make Yourself Feel Good

Smoking often triggers that happy chemical in the brain that makes you feel satisfied. Dopamine is a powerful chemical in the brain and if you can feel those levels rise, you’re going to feel like you can keep going.

Giving up smoking is a huge deal. Be proud of yourself for even starting it!

It's been a long time since I did an outfit shot & It's been a long time since I did an outfit shot & many of you know I suffer terribly from severe anxiety & depression. And for the past year, my self-esteem, self-confidence, self-belief has bungee jumped severely way way WAY downnnnnnnn low...!

I am at a constant inner war battle within myself, and my self worth. But today is the first step forward doing an outfit shot.

Do I like this photo or outfit? Meh! 🤔 I am showing me in this present moment. A vulnerable, fragile and insecure me but one who is slowly, desperately: trying. And by doing that, I'm actually empowering my spirit & soul. By TRYING. I'm not, and will not allow my mental health issues to define, me.

So, once upon a time I only wanted to show only the good photos that I liked to be shown on my blog/social media... I was afraid to show (reveal) my human flaws, my icky shots when I felt shitty, ugly, old(er), bloated, fragile (mental health) moments. Not anymore.

Today I make a conscious decision to show what the day is really like for me. In all its beauty: the good, the bad and the (OMG what was she thinking) ugly; but in all its glory. Its a positive day.

Outfit: turtle neck jumper from Kmart Australia , cargo tartan pants & knee high boots from PrettyLittleThing.com, handbag from Salvos Stores
