Cohorted Beauty Box | July Review

July 26, 2017

Luxury subscription beauty boxes delivered  your very door! Make sure to follow me on Twitter

Cohorted is not just any subscription beauty box, it is a luxury beauty box. Every month it is filled with luxury branded beauty products such as Too Faced, NARS, Chanel and Lancome, and many many more.

I had never tried the box before and so when Cohorted got in touch with me and asked if I’d like to try it out, I jumped at the chance and said yes.

It contains a secret selection of hand-picked beauty must haves, enclosed in an elegant all black exterior, and finished with a luxury hand tied bow. Super classy, super chic!

The box itself is incredibly well presented and super chic, with a black box, while lettering and a black ribbon, all so Net A Porter style. Inside it’s filled with black shredded tissue paper, your beauty items and a booklet which is filled with info on the products and also discounts for the site too.

So what was inside this box? There were four full size items and these were:

? Bella Pierre Cosmetics Glowing Palette

The Bella Pierre Cosmetics Glowing Palette has six gorgeous illuminator options for all desired looks and skin tones.  The Cohorted booklet says:

“Illuminators draw attention to and bring forward any areas of the face where emphasis is desired. This Glowing Palette contains six illuminator options to suit a wide range of skin tones. Formulated with natural ingredients, these illuminator melt seamlessly into the skin and can be layered, whether the goal is natural or dramatic look.”

The set combines six gorgeous flattering shades to suit a wide range of skin tones, all formulated with natural ingredients and mineral pigments that is super kind to the skin. There’s been mixed reviews for this product and to be honest I personally haven’t found any problems with it. It’s not heavely pigmented but it blends well and really compliments my skin. I do use this product every single day and I really do like it.

?  Bella Pierre Cosmetics Kiss Proof Lip Creme (Antique Pink)

Let’s be honest and thank the Kardashians, whether many of you agree or not, but seriously because of them liquid lipsticks are the liptsticks to really only use (yes Kylie Jenner, I am acknowledging you haha!). The 80’s style liquid lipstick is back on trend and I have to say this one lasts quite a while.

You can imagine I was trying to rub it off with my thumb, sip quite a few moscatio wines (only for testing of course) and I have to say I was quite impressed. The colour is exactly what is on trend (once again due to the Kardashians) – almost nude like but yet has a colour tinge to it. This is one liquid lipstick that really didn’t need hardly any touch up all and lived up to its name.

?  Kure Bazaar Nail Polish

I will admit I am not a big fan of coloured polished nails. The only time I really colour my nails is when I feel like having black nails (for a high goth glamour rock and roll look) and/or red blood nails (when I’m feeling sexy and super free).

So this colour that was sent to me was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too girly for me (I hate stereo typical girly girly things – you know… PINK! Bah!! Stereotypical sexist!) – I rebel against it to be honest). I will say that this nail polish is pigmented and just way too Barbie like girly for me (flash back to my one Barbie doll that was given to me and I have gave her a crew cut hair style and the lace front wigs and cut her toes off because I seriously wanted her to be different to everyone else… haha!) However, there are many out there that do like this colour and will appreciate it more than I would.

?  Too Faced – Better Than Sex Mascara

I have heard so much about this mascara and I prayed that it lived up to its expectation. I am ALWAYS on the look out for a mascara that promises to deliver what it really promotes it to be. God knows I have gone through so many mascaras from the drug store to the high end department, designer brand and most mascaras are either annoyingly too thick and clumpy (bah!!) or they leave my lashes looking as thin and spidery as the daddy long legs scaring me in my toilet earlier this morning!

Enter in the Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced and I have to say I am quite impressed. Out of all of the products sent in the beauty box, this one has impressed me the most. It’s made my lashes more visible, it doesn’t require to put on more than two layers to get that right thickness and the best thing is that it doesn’t give me that awful 70’s punk rock clumpy look!! Trust me when I say it actually does work. It was kind of shocking to see my lashes completely fabulous and sexy.

#flashback | This was one of my very favourite pho #flashback | This was one of my very favourite photoshoots I did with @tullylovesaphoto. I felt free, confident, sexy, strong & I had belief in myself that I could be just as good as any top influencer/blogger. But a year after that photo session, my ongoing battle with severe anxiety became excruciatingly worse over time. I lost all belief, my self confidence disappeared, I started to hate the way I looked & I started to hide from friends, family & the world... to be honest I felt like walking away & giving up my blog and IG; I thought no one would care & I'm not good at what I do anyway... but I stayed.

It's been a long journey to get back. I'm not completely there 100% but I am making slow baby steps. I take each day as it comes. Some days are good & I think, "the Queen is back!" but then something can trigger me & I am back to panicking, hyperventilating, negative thoughts, and just wanting to hide. The difference this time is I don't want to walk away. I want to come back & do/show what I love.

And that is fashion, skincare, photoshoots, striking a pose ha-ha!! doing my car karaoke sessions, and so much more- just being me. I hope you all can be patient, and stay with me. A butterfly is re-emerging 🦋 #butterfly #mentalhealthsupport #anxietysucks

It's been a long time since I did an outfit shot & It's been a long time since I did an outfit shot & many of you know I suffer terribly from severe anxiety & depression. And for the past year, my self-esteem, self-confidence, self-belief has bungee jumped severely way way WAY downnnnnnnn low...!

I am at a constant inner war battle within myself, and my self worth. But today is the first step forward doing an outfit shot.

Do I like this photo or outfit? Meh! 🤔 I am showing me in this present moment. A vulnerable, fragile and insecure me but one who is slowly, desperately: trying. And by doing that, I'm actually empowering my spirit & soul. By TRYING. I'm not, and will not allow my mental health issues to define, me.

So, once upon a time I only wanted to show only the good photos that I liked to be shown on my blog/social media... I was afraid to show (reveal) my human flaws, my icky shots when I felt shitty, ugly, old(er), bloated, fragile (mental health) moments. Not anymore.

Today I make a conscious decision to show what the day is really like for me. In all its beauty: the good, the bad and the (OMG what was she thinking) ugly; but in all its glory. Its a positive day.

Outfit: turtle neck jumper from Kmart Australia , cargo tartan pants & knee high boots from PrettyLittleThing.com, handbag from Salvos Stores
